Verses was our first sit down restaurant experience in Kitchener. We were told it was one of Kitchener’s finest “fine dining” places. If so, Kitchener is lacking in fine dining restaurants. While not bad, Verses was not great either.

I had Foie Gras Benedict which I must say was very interesting. Probably my favorite part of the evening. I then had the Beef and Oxtail as my main. It was the low point of the evening. I forget the wine, so obviously it was not spectacular. I made the mistake of having a strong Martini before we started, so I missed out on dessert.

I don’t want to give the impression that I will not go back, I will… but if it was in Toronto and there were other choices, I would not.

Meal with wine for two ran about $300.

Ordered from this place after the bad experience with Chopsticks Chinese Restaurant. Food arrived promptly and was decent. Forget what I ordered as I placed it before I started this blog.

Found this place through a search on my PS3 browser. Never got the food, so I cannot comment on it. I do NOT recommend the place.

Here are the reasons for making it on Mr. Big’s naughty list:
1. Lady taking order was rude; this can normally be forgiven, it is Chinese take-out.
2. Food did not arrive for 1 and half hours, called many times and told “10 mo minute. Fast this time.”
3. Even after cancelling order, an Asian fellow decided to stop by with food and BEG us to pay him.
4. They still charged my credit card, even though we cancelled order.

If we were not so hungry, this would of been a funny experience. The Asian fellow that came to our door was crying poor, saying this boss would take it from his pay. Meanwhile he was decked out in new Lacoste gear and driving a new 5-series BMW! Poor guy.

Two thumbs down from Mr. Big!
