Verses Restaurant
Verses was our first sit down restaurant experience in Kitchener. We were told it was one of Kitchener’s finest “fine dining” places. If so, Kitchener is lacking in fine dining restaurants. While not bad, Verses was not great either.
I had Foie Gras Benedict which I must say was very interesting. Probably my favorite part of the evening. I then had the Beef and Oxtail as my main. It was the low point of the evening. I forget the wine, so obviously it was not spectacular. I made the mistake of having a strong Martini before we started, so I missed out on dessert.
I don’t want to give the impression that I will not go back, I will… but if it was in Toronto and there were other choices, I would not.
Meal with wine for two ran about $300.

We also enjoyed a pinot noir from California as suggested by the wine stewart to go with our meals. We would give this restaurant 5 stars all the way. And FYI, our bill was no where near $300.00!!!!! The above diner must have had a very expensive bottle of wine….they should remember the name of it!!!

I stick by my review. The place was good, and might be the “best” in Kitchener – but it does not come close to the finer restaurants in Toronto.

You can’t compare kw restaurants to the Toronto ones. This is not a overly adventurous town. You ate at Perigee for crying out loud. Not too many places even in Toronto can match what they did there. And now it’s out of business..boohoo.
